g.i.g.o. – garbage in, garbage out

October 15th, 2003

I had another day of temp work today. I worked in a landfill picking up trash. It’s not as ironic as it sounds. We had 40+ mph winds today so I walked all over this grassy hillside picking up the loose pieces of paper and trash that were blowing away. It started out pretty awful but I actually was enjoying myself after a while. I ended up praying for one of the guys I worked with. He had one great thing to say. “When you always work with garbage, you start to talk like garbage and you start to act like garbage.”

I don’t think this lesson needs too much interpretation.

  1. litter, garbage, trash, rubbish, bollocks, cultch, coom and debris… all of these are awful, right? any common?

But me? just the same of those which i had mentioned just now, everyday i have to brush my teeth, wash my face… i look at the mirror, i know the meaning of “When you always work with garbage, you start to talk like garbage and you start to act like garbage.”

that’s really true, that’s me, i can’t change my mind.
